Make & Create: Spaces
for Artists Makes and
Creative Experimentation
At Narture, we believe that everyone is an artist and creativity isn’t something reserved for professionals; it’s something everyone can explore.
Make & Create are two spaces designed to support creative practice, experimentation and learning in the heart of Ayr.
From artist residencies and community workshops to printmaking, photography and hands-on making, these spaces bring ideas to life.
You Don't have to be an Artist to belong here
So many adults want to try something creative but don’t know where to start, worry they’re “not good enough,” or feel like creative spaces aren’t meant for them.
We believe that everyone is an artist and that creativity is about curiosity, not perfection.
Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or building a long-term practice, you’ll find encouragement, guidance and community here.
Make: Artist Residency & Community Programme
Blank Canvas, based in MAKE at 30 Newmarket St, is Narture’s artist-in-residence programme, supporting artists to develop new work and share their skills with the wider community.
Funded by Creative Scotland, the programme invites 2 local, 2 national and 2 international artists to spend time working within the Narture ecosystem; experimenting, collaborating and connecting with local people.
As part of the residency, each artist delivers regular free community workshops, creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds to engage with creative practice.
Make is about:
- giving artists time, support and space to develop work
- creating meaningful exchange between artists and community
- making creativity accessible to everyone
Because when artists are supported to experiment and play, the whole community benefits.

Create is designed to be welcoming, inclusive and supportive. Many people come on their own and leave having met new friends.
You might be:
- looking for quality time doing something creative
- exploring art school or creative careers
- wanting to switch off and do something with your hands
Small groups, clear guidance and a relaxed approach. It’s about enjoying the process of making, not just the end result.
A place to learn, play & discover
Across Make & Create, we believe creativity should feel open, welcoming and accessible.
You don’t need formal training, expensive equipment or years of experience; just curiosity and a willingness to try.
Many people arrive unsure of their creative ability and leave with new skills, new confidence and new connections.
We believe creativity isn’t about perfection; it’s about discovery.
